Today, we're announcing the agent wallet, an agent-first payment system powered by payment tokens.
Autonomous commerce is one of the most promising—and challenging—frontiers in AI. As agents become more capable, they need to complete tasks that require making purchases—booking travel, ordering supplies, managing subscriptions. Users face the challenge of maintaining control while enabling agents to act autonomously. At Hyperfold, we are working to make autonomous agent commerce safe and practical.
The agent wallet represents a breakthrough in AI and payments: a secure system that enables AI agents to make purchases autonomously within user-defined boundaries. The agent wallet is now available in private beta to validate and refine its capabilities in the field.

The agent wallet works by authorizing agents to make purchases within predefined boundaries. Users set spending limits, choose merchant categories, and configure token expiration times. When an agent needs to make a purchase, it uses a payment token—a secure, limited authorization that defines exactly what the agent can buy, where, and how much. The agent wallet does not rely on traditional payment approval workflows that require manual intervention for every transaction. Instead, it uses token-based delegation and real-time monitoring to enable autonomous purchasing while maintaining safety controls. The agent wallet looks at purchases as a user might: by checking limits, verifying merchant eligibility, confirming transaction amounts, and completing purchases within authorized boundaries.
The agent wallet relies on a multi-stage process to enable safe, autonomous purchasing:
Payment Delegation: Users authorize specific agents to make purchases by setting spending limits, transaction boundaries, and merchant restrictions. This delegation can be temporary or ongoing, with clear expiration dates and usage constraints.
Token Creation: When an agent needs to make a purchase, a payment token is created—a secure, limited authorization that defines exactly what the agent can buy, where, and how much. Tokens can be single-use or reusable, with configurable expiration times and spending caps.
Transaction Validation: Before completing a purchase, the agent wallet validates the transaction against all configured limits—checking the amount against maximum transaction and daily limits, verifying the merchant against category restrictions and allowlists, and confirming the token is still valid and within usage constraints.
Autonomous Completion: Once validated, the agent completes the purchase autonomously. The transaction is processed, recorded, and made visible to the user in real-time. Users can monitor all agent transactions, revoke permissions, or adjust limits at any time.
The agent wallet works alongside users, integrating with existing payment providers and workflows to deliver autonomous purchasing without compromising safety or control. While the agent wallet is built for commerce, in our testing we've found that it can also handle subscription management, recurring payments, and complex multi-step purchase workflows.
The agent wallet has been in service for several months, running continuously across internal deployments and those of external alpha partners. Within our organization, it has enabled agents to complete thousands of autonomous transactions while maintaining strict spending controls. Partners have highlighted the depth of its safety controls, with the agent wallet preventing unauthorized purchases and maintaining compliance with spending policies.
In benchmark testing on real-world agent deployments, the agent wallet successfully processed 98% of authorized transactions while blocking 100% of transactions that exceeded limits or violated merchant restrictions, demonstrating high accuracy and real-world effectiveness.
The agent wallet has also been applied to business operations, where it has enabled agents to autonomously manage procurement, renew subscriptions, and handle routine purchasing tasks.
